Sh. Junaid Bio:
Sheikh Junaid Bhaiyat’s dedication to the sacred sciences started at an early age. After having completed the memorization of the Qur’an at the age of 12, he traveled to the renowned seminary Darul ‘Uloom Falah-e-Darain, India, to study the art of Tajweed and concurrently learnt the Urdu language. Therefter, he returned to Toronto and continued to study the traditional Dars-Nizami syllabus – a rigorous 7-year course – at Jaami’ah Islamiyyaah Abu Bakr. His studies included, (but were not limited to) Arabic (Etymology), Morphology, Rhetoric) , Tafsir (Exegesis), Hadith, Aqidah (Theology) and Fiqh (Jurisprudence) [specializing in the Hanafi School]. Upon culmination, he received a sanad (chain of transmission) and Ijaazah (license to teach) in the six canonical books of Hadith. Sheikh has been delivering Khutbahs and lectures throughout various Masaajid in the GTA, and travels often, learning and teaching this noble faith, primarily visiting the San Francisco-Bay Area and other places across the globe. Sheikh delivers weekly Tafsir at Masjid Quba, Ajax, a portion of which is available on YouTube. Most recently, Sheikh has completed a Masters degree at the International Islamic University of Malaysia, from the faculty of Islamic Revealed Knowledge, specializing in the Qur’an and Sunnah department. The thesis has recently been endorsed and published, and is an in depth study of the classical hadith work of the 13th century scholar, Imam Al-Qurtubi (May Allah swt be pleased with him).
