Yaseen Foundation Elections 1446/2025
The Yaseen Foundation 1446/2025 elections present an opportunity to elect respectable members of our community into Executive Committee and Board of Trustee positions.
The elected members on the Executive Committee will serve a two-year term, commencing 1st of Dhu al-Qai’dah (approx. April 29th 2025), during which they will be accountable for all key decisions regarding operations, finances, events, Islamic programs, and all other important affairs pertaining to running the Yaseen Foundation. Trustees on the Board of Trustees serve five-year terms.
Elections this year will result in all five Executive Committee and two Board of Trustee positions being filled.
Online Election Software
Similar to the last election, the election process will once again be managed using Electionbuddy software. This will allow for an efficient and high integrity election to be run online, without the need for paper ballots.
Each eligible voter will receive an email and text message that will allow them to generate a unique secure code to cast their nomination/vote. Instructions can be found here. If you require assistance please reach out to elections@yaseen.org.
Election Process and Key Dates
The election process is divided into two parts:
Nominations: Eligible community members will be requested to nominate eligible candidates for the final election.
Elections: Nominees who accept their nomination will be entered into the election as candidates. During the elections these candidates will be voted for by the community for positions in the Executive Committee (EC) and Board of Trustees (BT).
The following schedule of dates/process will be followed as per the Yaseen constitution:
25th Shabaan/24th February 2025 (5pm PST): Nomination process commences
Eligible voters will receive a request to nominate via email or text message.
10th Ramadan/10th March 2025 (Maghrib): Nomination process closes
The Election committee will meet with the Shura to review the list of eligible nominees (those with 3 or more nominations) and will begin to obtain acceptance from nominees to proceed as final candidates.
1st Shawwal/30th March 2025: Election commences
Eligible voters will receive a request to vote for final candidates for EC/BT positions via email or text message.
15th Shawwal/14th April 2025 (Maghrib time): Elections close
At the conclusion of the Elections, the Election Committee will review the results and prepare communications for the community (via email, newsletter, website, etc.)
17th Shawwal/16th April 2025: New Executive Committee and Board of Trustees announced
Eligibility to Vote & Be Nominated
As per the Yaseen constitution (found here), specific membership criteria need to be fulfilled in order to be eligible to participate in the election process either as a voter or to stand as a nominee/candidate.
To be nominated/elected: You must have been an active member one year prior to the start of elections (1st Shawwal 1445/10th April 2024)
To vote: You must have been an active member three months prior to the start of the elections (30th Jumada ath-Thani 1446/December 31st 2024)
Guidance for Eligible Voters
Nomination and voting is an amanah and should be based on qualifications.
For the Executive Committee candidates, please review the constitution, found here, for responsibilities. An ideal candidate should have management, leadership skills, and a good understanding of our community needs.
As for the Board of Trustees, a knowledge of real estate, financial management, and compliance operations is necessary to successfully perform the duties necessary for this position.
